Our
Story
High Flyers was started over 15 years ago by a local mom who had a daughter with learning disabilities. It came about as a response to the council closing day centres, which traditionally had been the place that most disabled people went to after their schooling had finished.
Beginning in a church hall with a handful of young people, it’s development has been little short of miraculous. This charity now has their own venue, over seventy young adults called members, a fleet of buses, and employs over thirty support workers.

Our
Story
All attending have learning disabilities, but many have additional physical or medical
issues, and they come from all the surrounding areas to this day time group.
Each member has their own challenges to overcome. Those with complex needs can be helped with intensive interaction and others may be able to develop work skills, but the aim for every one is to have full fun days with their friends while building on any existing skills, and developing new ones.
